Teaching Children God’s Ways

Deuteronomy 6:6-8 – And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

This verse tells us as parents that we need to make faith a part of our daily lives. It’s not enough to simply have a few minutes of Bible time together in the morning. We must be intentional about weaving Scripture into everything we say and do daily. The key is having God’s Word in our hearts. Then out of the overflow of our hearts, we will be excited about it and naturally talk about it.

Discipline with Love

Hebrews 12:11 – Now now chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Discipline may feel hard at the moment, but it shapes a child’s heart and character over time. Biblical discipline that is rooted in patient and loving guidance, helps kids grow into responsible, God-honoring adults. When we lovingly set boundaries we teach our kids valuable lessons that lead to wisdom and righteousness.

Training and Correcting the Heart With Scripture Book

Encouraging Your Children

I Thessalonians 5:11 –  Therefore comfort each other and edify (build up) one another, just as you are doing.

Encouragement and praise help children develop confidence and a strong sense of self-worth. When we speak life over them with affirming words and Biblical truths, it reminds them of their value in God’s eyes. This helps our kids feel supported and motivated to grow in faith and character.

Patience in Parenting

James 1:19 – Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.

Being patient in our parenting helps us guide our children with wisdom and love, rather than reacting in anger. When we take the time to listen and hear what they are saying before we respond, it builds a close relationship with them, creating heart ties. By practicing patience, we also set an example for our kids to follow when interacting with others.

God’s Promises for Parents

Philippians 4:6-7 – Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

There will be times of worry or uncertainty in our parenting. It’s at those times that we need to claim God’s peace, as we bring our needs to Him in prayer. It’s encouraging to know we don’t have to figure things out alone but can seek God’s wisdom and call on Him in prayer.

Biblical Principles of Parenting

By being a godly example, parents guide their children through actions that reflect Christ’s love and righteousness.

Raising Children with a Strong Foundation

Psalm 78:4 –  We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.

When we share personal stories and testimonies of God’s faithfulness and goodness to us, it helps our kids see examples of God’s faithfulness in action. By building their faith through Scripture and real-life examples, we strengthen their trust in Him.

Being a Godly Example

Titus 2:7 –  In all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works in doctinre showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility. (integrity & dignity)

Children learn by watching their parents live out their faith daily. They follow the example of their parents,  so we need to strive to lead them by example. By demonstrating love, honesty, and kindess, we shape their character.

Here are some tips for Setting the Example In Character Training.

What Psalm Talks About Raising a Child?

Psalm 103:17 – But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children.

God promises to bless and guide families who follow Him, and that promise always stands. When parents live by faith, obeying God’s Word, they pass down that faith to future generations. Raising kids in God’s way according to Biblical principles brings lasting blessings.
