At those times it is very important that we turn to God’s Word to seek His truth and claim His promises. Otherwise, we will end up dwelling in discouragement valley, as we listen to the voice of the enemy. Without His word to guide and encourage us as moms, it would be easy to just give up!

5 Bible Verses For Discouraged Moms

1. When I am discouraged about one of my kids, and wondering if there is hope for that child, I remember this verse and cling to it.

If God can change the heart of a king, He can change the heart of that child I am concerned about!

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water:  he turneth it whithersover he will.

Proverbs 21:1

There may be times when we struggle to have the faith to believe that our child will ever change That’s when we need to claim this verse, and God’s power to work in the child’s heart, and bring the change that only He can bring.

2. When I have been faithful to teach and train my kids in God’s Word, but  feel like it’s not helping, I claim this promise.

God’s Word WILL NOT return unto Him void, but WILL accomplish what He wants it to.

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Isaiah 55:11

Often, I have cried out to God and reminded Him that He has told us that His Word would NOT return void, and would not only accomplish what it was meant to do but would also prosper in that.

Then I asked God to use His Word to:

  • Be a light to their path
  • To keep them from sin
  • To guide them in wisdom
  • Give them discernment

These are things that His Word was meant to do, and it was so encouraging to remember the power of His Word.

3. When I am feeling overwhelmed with what the day holds, I commit my day and the activities of it, to the Lord.

He WILL establish my thoughts and plans when I give them to Him.

Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

Proverbs 16:3

As busy moms, it is easy to get overwhelmed with the many responsibilities that we have. Some days or seasons we have more on our plate and struggle to know where to start or how to get the things done that we need to.

That’s when we remember that we don’t have to figure it all out on our own, but need to commit all of it the Lord and ask Him to guide our thinking and our plans for the day.

I love that He doesn’t leave us to sort through it all on our own and come up with a plan on our own, but rather invites us to bring it all to Him.

4. When I am exhausted and think it’s too hard to keep on, I remember that I will see results, and the harvest will come.

It is important for me to focus on planting the seeds daily, knowing I will reap if I remain faithful.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Galatians 6:9

It’s easy to expect or hope to see the results of our teaching & Biblical training right away, but we need to remember that it is a process that takes time.

We plant the seeds, then trust God for the harvest.

When we plant seeds of Scriptural truth in the hearts and minds of our children and are faithful in training them, we can trust and believe that we will reap a harvest IF we keep on.

5. When facing a situation with the kids that leaves me feeling helpless, I can call on God.

He will answer me, and show me great things, which I can’t even imagine.

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jeremiah 33:3

Have you ever found yourself feeling helpless while struggling to solve a problem or change a situation on your own? Maybe you called friends asking for advice or pulled out one of your favorite parenting books.

While those are good things, the first and foremost thing to do is call on God!

Often in times of discouragement, I would realize that I was trying in my own strength and that if I would call on Him in faith, He would do more than I could ever expect or think.
