The Best House Cleaning Schedule

Everyone loves coming home to a clean home. That is why I am sharing The Best House Cleaning Schedule with you!

Having a clean home is a respite from the chaos of the world around us. Your home should be a haven, a place where you can relax. But when your home is messy, dirty, and cluttered, it’s hard to feel calm when all you see around you are chores that need to be done.

This is why having a great cleaning schedule in your home is a must. It isn’t hard to stay on top of things when you get into a good routine. No matter how big or small your home may be, this is a perfect cleaning schedule to follow.

Daily Cleaning Schedule

If you are a parent, then you will want to include parts of this house cleaning schedule into your child’s routine. Helping your children learn responsibility is a must. Keeping them involved in the cleaning routine helps them learn to be responsible for their actions around the home, but also helps save you time during a busy week. Having a good schedule is a vital part of time management for homeschooling moms.

Monday: Weekly House Cleaning

As you begin your week, you already may be feeling overwhelmed. A few basic things on Monday can get you started and off to a great week of productivity.

  • Go through clutter and mail collected over the weekend. Spend 15 minutes sorting into stacks of items to throw away, attend to immediately, or handle later.
  • Change linens on all beds. If you only have one set, this will require a few loads of laundry on Mondays, so plan accordingly.
  • Sanitize all counters in bathrooms and kitchens
  • Empty trash throughout the house as applicable

Tuesday: House Cleaning Checklist

As your week progresses, you’ll be ready to tackle everything at hand when you stay on schedule. A well-organized mom will always be more effective in managing her household. A list of chores is a must.

  • Do at least one load of laundry
  • Clean toilets, showers, and bathtubs
  • Dust living areas
  • Gather clutter and make sure all things are returned to their home around the house
  • Empty trash throughout the house as applicable

Wednesday: Deep Cleaning Chore List

As the middle of the week approaches, it’s time to focus on some of the deep cleaning needs. Attending to a few things around the house on a regular basis will make it much easier to manage.

  • Sweep and mop all floors
  • Vacuum all carpets
  • Sanitize all counters in bathrooms and kitchens
  • Attend to mail, paper clutter, and paying bills
  • Empty trash throughout the house as applicable

Thursday: House Cleaning Weekend Prep

As you wind down the week, you will want to focus on making sure things are set for the weekend events with your family. This includes basics, as well as preparation for any weekend events.

  • Do at least one load of laundry
  • Clean windows and mirrors throughout the house
  • Pick up clutter in each bedroom and set rooms back in order. This includes emptying trash, hanging clothing, and putting toys or books back in proper shelving
  • Empty trash throughout the house as applicable

Friday: House Tidy-up Checklist

  • Sanitize all counters in bathrooms and kitchens
  • Pick up clutter in living areas
  • Vacuum the furniture in living areas as needed (especially necessary if you have pets)
  • Empty trash throughout the house as applicable

Saturday: Housekeeping Projects

Saturday cleaning is more about big projects that happen to be needed. This could include attic and garage cleaning, yard work, or home renovation needs. There is no specific list for this day, but some of the highlighted options are below.

  • Clean the refrigerator and pantry out before weekly meal planning
  • Assign chores to the children for cleaning their rooms or other areas that need attention
  • Do deep cleaning of baseboards, ceiling fans, or other hard to reach areas that kids and spouses may help with
  • Empty trash throughout the house as applicable

Sunday House Cleaning Schedule Wrap-Up

While I typically say not to do any cleaning on Sunday, there is one specific thing that helps your week start out on the right foot. You absolutely must make sure your kitchen is cleaned up Sunday night before you go to bed. In the past, I have shared why organizing makes you a more patient mom. Nothing starts your week off better than a clean kitchen on Monday morning.

Clean the kitchen:

  • Load dishwasher and clean out the kitchen sink.
  • Sanitize sink and counters
  • Remove clutter off counters (can be stacked to deal with on Monday)

The best house cleaning schedule isn’t anything specific. It is, however, a good routine that helps you stay on track. No matter what your daily routine includes, make sure to spread chores out over the course of the week so you don’t get overwhelmed.
