Are you wondering what the Bible says about mothers? Finding Scriptures to help you become a better mom is the best thing you can do as a parent! God’s Word is the source of power and wisdom, which we desperately need as moms.
The Bible verses for moms in this post are perfect for women like us who need joy, hope, and strength to get through the tough mothering days.
5 Scriptures To Help You Become A Better Mom
Motherhood is the most rewarding and hardest job that anyone will ever receive. It will test your patience, tolerance, and overall sanity.
Sometimes it seems impossible to meet all the expectations that being a mom demands.
Not only do we have the responsibility of training and guiding our children, but we are also required to manage a household by maintaining the laundry, dishes, cleaning the floors, wiping the tables, dusting shelves, and providing cooked meals three times a day.
After running errands, carpooling, dressing, bathing, and dealing with the everyday drama of children’s emotions many mothers end up feeling overwhelmed, inadequate, and unappreciated.
Those unwanted feelings shouldn’t be entertained in a mother’s mind or heart.
To help combat those negative thoughts, and give moms a sense of peace, and strength, here are my top 5 Bible scriptures to turn to daily:
1. Isaiah 40:11
He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
Whenever you feel overwhelmed, remember the Lord’s calm approach to guiding His children. God wants to encourage you and lead you daily.
This scripture also tells us that the Lord guides mothers, as well. I love that! The important thing is that we have to be sure to take time to turn to the Lord for His guidance.
2. Isaiah 55:11
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
As mothers, we sometimes wonder if the teaching we are doing with God’s Word is making a difference. We wonder if it is taking root in the hearts of our children. (Read Now: When You Wonder If Your Parenting Is Worth It)
I LOVE this promise that God’s Word WILL accomplish what it is supposed to and prosper in that purpose.
What an amazing promise to claim as we teach our children God’s Word!
3. Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
At times we all reach a point of weakness and need that boost of inner strength and endurance to keep us moving forward. Remembering that Christ gives us that power and takes on our burdens whenever we ask is such an encouragement.
Don’t be afraid to stop, take a deep breath, and ask Christ to give you the strength to move through your day. You don’t have to try to do it in your own strength!
4. Psalm 63:7
Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
Rest in the truth that God is your helper and will bring you joy, even on those hard days. (Read Now: Having One Of Those Character Building Days?)
I love this reminder that as a baby bird hides under its mother’s wings, we can hide under the protection and comfort of God’s “wings,” letting Him strengthen and help us on the tough days.
5. Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
I love that we don’t have to try to figure things out on our own but can trust God to guide us and let His plan unfold.
